How a swap settles

  1. Propose

    Name what you give, what you want back, and how long the grace period lasts. Windows run from ten minutes to seven days.

  2. Deposit

    Both assets move into a swap the contract holds. The window only opens once the second deposit lands.

  3. Wait, or back out

    Either party can cancel at any point before the deadline. Both deposits go straight back to their owners.

  4. Settle

    At the deadline a scheduled transaction fires on its own and completes the exchange. Nobody has to be online.

Flow is the only major chain with native scheduled transactions. That is why there is no keeper bot and no server that has to stay up.
